DIY Facial Essentials

A few weeks ago I went on a kid-free getaway to Palm Springs with a few girlfriends. It was a flashback to high school sleepovers minus the inevitable girl drama that came along with. We stayed up until craaazy hours (11 pm tops), partied like rock stars with red wine and played MA.S.H talked for hours on end while doing DIY facials.

Well actually, I was the one giving the facials since I was the one that brought the stash of DIY facial essentials. I honestly brought a two lb bag of various skincare products but decided only to use 6 of them to give the best at home facials of all time to my two girlfriends who needed some pampering. Don’t worry, I got some pampering too…it came in the form of sleep and yes I did my own facial too.

In order to give or get a great DIY facial, you need to set the stage to make it relaxing even if you are giving yourself one. I think the best place to give a facial or relax with a skincare mask,  is on a bed, or somewhere equally as comfy. For me, I like to turn the lights down low, light some candles, and put on my favorite relaxing Spotify station. Yes, I realize this sounds like I am setting up a romantic rendezvous with the hubs…but nope…just fascinating…(don’t bother me I am masking).

For this at home spa night, I chose 6 products that are perfect for skin that is seeing the first signs of aging. My girlfriends and I are all in our 30’s, and while we have zero problem being 30ish, we would like our skin to look 20ish. Just being honest.

So the DIY Facial Essentials I chose are from Kat Burki, Indie Lee, Michael Todd, and JeNu. It’s important to not just have skincare, but to have some beauty gadgets as well that will enhance your at-home skincare results. So, let me walk you through exactly what I brought and how I DIY facials.

It’s possible that I was actually asleep in the above photo while being nuzzled up next to a bowl of warm water. No kids for three days turned me into a narcoleptic as I tried to recover from years of lost sleep. Anyways, here are my facial essentials for a DIY Spa Night.

1) Soak a face towel in warm water, ring it out, and place it on the face to let the skin steam.

2) Apply the Indie Lee Cleansing oil to the face and use the Michael Todd Soniclear Skincare Brush to give the skin a deep cleanse. Using this skincare brush not only helps to shrink enlarged pore size, but it helps to exfoliate the skin as well. Then just wash it off with a wet towel. (Side note- you should be using this skincare brush every day.)

3) Next apply the Kat Burkis Hibiscus Antioxidant Face Mask for 10 minutes. This is one of my favorite skincare masks for aging skin because it not only hydrates the skin, but it exfoliates as well.

4) Now apply the Indie Lee Cleansing Oil again and massage the face with it using circular motion. When you are done, wipe it off with either a towel or cotton rounds.

5) Next apply the Indie Lee, Swiss Apple serum and amplify it with the JeNu Ultrasonic Infuser. This skincare device helps your product absorb 3x better into the skin than without it. So basically, your skin is getting the full benefits of the skincare products you are applying.

6) Finish up your DIY Facial with the Indie Lee skincare oil again, and then apply the Indie Lee under eye balm.

Your face should be looking fabulous and hopefully you got to experience some relaxation as well. What do you like to do for your at home facials or spa nights? Tell me in the comments below!
