When fall hits, so does my fall style vibes, and today it’s denim. I don’t care if it’s still 100 degrees here in Texas, and I am ditching the summer dresses and stepping into boots. When I lived in Portland, OR (once upon a time), I was in full-on fall weather clothing by the end of September. We are talking scarves, long sleeves, jeans, and additional layering pieces for just in case hypothermia set in. Oh, and all that while carrying a delicious fall latte with cool leaf inspired foam-art to rep the season.
I was all about it. And honestly, I still am. But my clothing choices are a little different now that a hot flash could potentially happen in this warm fall weather.
For me, I need outfits that are are easy, stylish, comfortable, affordable, and easy to unbutton because my ta ta’s are currently in use every 2 hours for nursing. Are you catching my vibes? I can’t have complicated in the clothing department…and yet, I need to look like I could wear complicated on the reg.
If you are wondering if I dress like this every day, the answer is negative. If you come to my house, you can usually find me rocking some yoga pants and a tank top. But when I get out of my house, I like to feel good, and part of that for me is my clothing and makeup choices.
For this fall style vibe, I kept it simple by wearing a long sleeve denim shirt dress from Forever21 that buttons up the chest and some Calvin Klein black booties (similar style here). I got the dress last weekend along with some other fall-inspired clothing from Forever21 and didn’t spend much at all. I am still recovering from having a baby two months ago. And while I absolutely believe in investing in some pieces of clothing, I refuse to spend a bunch of money when I am working on getting my pre-baby body back.
(I don’t know if it’s possible to get it all the way back after having three kids…perhaps I wish for too much.)
Last but certainly not least, I have my Madewell bag that I use as my diaper bag. It’s large, durable and fits everything I need. Plus, I like that it doesn’t look like I might be carrying diapers and wipes inside.
As I said before, I am currently trying to buy things that open in the front, or are at least easy to manage for nursing purposes. What sold me on this long denim shirt dress was the button enclosure at the top. It makes it easy to take care of business and still look cool doing it.
Another huge part of dressing for fall is having the right accessories. Right now, I am all about gold everything and animal print designs. So for this look, I incorporated a gold necklace (similar style) with a chunky pendant attached and some cheetah print sunglasses from Target. And of course, bright lips are my thing most every day; I am wearing Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme.
What are you into for fall?
xo, Kendra
