Hey guess what… it’s almost summer time (woo-hoo)! That means swimsuit weather is coming, and while I am an SPF freak, I would prefer to not be the whitest person at the pool. So I am doing you a favor and testing out the brand-spanking-new Moroccan Tan Ultra from Xen-Tan! I have tried several of their products before and have had great results, so I was ready to give this one a go.
Brand Overview: “This unique formula is a silky liquid-lotion self-tan. It has a rich brown instant color and delivers a flawless medium self-tan in 3 hours. Moroccan oil and Peptides treat and moisturize the skin while tanning. This formula sets instantly so you can dress immediately after applying. With a fresh tropical fragrance and never a chemical smell, it stays delicious the entire time you tan. Combine Moroccan Tan with Luminous Gold Gel for a super dark brown tan.”

My Thoughts: I definitely wouldn’t recommend this product (or any other self-tanner) without using a mitt. Before I got started I made to to exfoliate my body, then moisturize any places where wanted the self-tanner to adjust gradually like my elbows, knees, top of feet, and tops of my hands. Then I applied a small amount to the mitt, and applied the Xen-Tan in circular motion all over my body. For my back, I asked my husband to apply it because I don’t have go-go-gadget arms and can’t reach around that far. I would say that my biggest mistake when applying this product was that I did it at night and not in the best of lighting. So there was a pretty good spot that I totally skipped over on my legs. Since this is a pretty dark product against pale white legs, it looked pretty funny. So I applied the Xen-tan over that spot and it looks totally fine. A few other thing’s I liked about this product was that had a beautiful golden undertone, and it didn’t have any funky smell at all. I woke up in the morning sniffing my newly bronzed skin because it smelled like yummy coconut. My husband even commented on how much he liked my golden-glow!
Longevity: This lasted about 5 days on my skin before I started noticing it beginning to lighten. It didn’t come off splotchy at all even after showering and I just re-applied to get back to the color I liked.
I have to say, the olive undertone is rocking it on my legs. (Also, the lighter spots on both pics of my leg are actually from the light coming through my window.)
See, I don’t look like an oompa-loompa! I love how the Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan Ultra gave my skin a nice tan without looking like a total creeper. In my after picture, I don’t have any face products on besides some blush! Not bad, right? Check out my self-tanning tips on my post from last years fave. self tanners.
