Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NYC 2011: Elene Cassis

When I opened up Elene Cassis’s biography on the Fashion Week website I was entranced by the quote displayed there from the designer herself. It read, “My clothing line ELENE CASSIS features classic and timeless designs that embody the essence of modern elegance, inspire self-confidence and celebrate the graceful curves of the female form.” I think that explains it all, let’s take a look.

Cassis, a native to Long Island, was a competitive gymnast before she dove into the world of fashion. After earning her design degree she launched her signature collection in 2009 and has since caught the attention of top retailers nationwide. She is drawn to classic dress shapes of fashion icons like Jackie O and bold colors that she curves over women of every shape.

Her Spring 2012 line has dresses that will make the women of Mad Men croon. A little black dress paired with chartreuse cuff bangles would put any party to a halt.

I was also glad to see that a little rose pink will be back in the midst of Spring’s grey days. Cassis does a fantastic job making opposites attract by pairing together feminine dresses with harsh lined jewelry pieces.

And let’s not forget to mention this beautiful one shouldered piece. That slit works so well to make any pair of legs look mile-high. She follows the womanly shape well, check out the whole video here.
