After watching Emma Stone play the angst-filled and misunderstood bassist Amelia Stone in The Rocker, she has held a place in my heart. I have been playing the bass since high school and have often been misunderstood while doing so; I think the bass just makes you have to hold a certain expression while you play it. Anyway, I was struck hard when I saw here on the cover of July’s Elle Magazine. The intense contrast of lips against that amazing yellow feathered dress paired with a huge chunky necklace, I knew I had to do a “Get That Look” on her cover page. Let’s check out the pieces I was able to find for under $50 each.
Emma is rocking the bright and bold color trends that are sweeping through every avenue of beauty and fashion this season.
Sleeveless Yellow Dress: I actually own this piece in red, a color I don’t wear all that often, and now wish I had it in this Canary color instead. I chose this dress because of the ruffle on the top which is meant to mimic the feathered fabric of Emma’s Versace dress. There are several other dresses that maybe meet the material criteria better than this one, but I also chose this dress because it was one of the only ones I could find that hit at the natural waistline. $14.00
M.A.C. Surf Baby Lipstick in Hibiscus: I love, love, love a bold lip and Emma has certainly got that figured out in this look. Finding the right color of red can be so difficult, but don’t give up because red is one of those colors that will be right for everyone. I chose this color by M.A.C. because it is a great blend of red and orange without being too coral or too soft. $16.00
Chunky Gold Accessories: Gold and yellow together? Be so bold! I love the way Emma’s necklace just melts into her dress. I tried to find a piece that would do the same thing on this dress, but that wouldn’t take away from the fun ruffle on the top of the piece. The shorter length of this necklace works with the weight of the metal to not overtake the whole look. $39.00
