Purse Worthy Beauty Basics

If you are a busy mom, or a busy working woman, you are most likely pressed for time.  Because our “extra” time is limited (if you even get extra time in a day…), keeping some beauty basics in your purse becomes an essential, not just an option.

beauty basics to keep in your purse

So here’s my story and a good little mental picture for you before we talk about my purse worthy beauty basics. A few days ago I was hauling myself, my two girls, and my 80-pound, untrained (major fail) Goldendoodle to the vet.  My dog was having a slight panic attack and giving me a minor case of whiplash. While that was going on, my 4-year-old was begging me for mints and my 1.5-year-old was making a small ocean on the floor with her new discovery- the water dispenser. So all in this single moment, I am on the floor at the vet pointlessly cleaning up water because more water is still being poured out by my daughter’s wonderful water dispenser, I am hearing something about mints in the background, and my dog is pulling my arm off, all while the secretary is rolling her eyes at me. Let me tell you that by the end of this vet trip, I needed a glass of wine, some therapy, and almost every beauty basic in my purse to help me look normal again.

beauty basics that should be kept in your purse. Essentials for the busy women.

With that story said, here are 6 Purse Worthy Beauty Basics for the busy women.  Or the crazy mom…or both.

beauty basics that should be kept in the purse!

Beauty Blotters: I like to call these “oil obliterators”. They are important to keep in your purse just in case you have a heat flash, need a makeup touch-up, have a hot day, or a steamy night.  Basically, they are good for that moment when you look in the mirror and realize you could start your own line of natural-essential oils. Check out these oil-absorbing beauty blotters from Mary Kay.

Mary Kay Blotters: $6.00

Beauty Basics that are purse essentials

Teeth Whitening: Yeah, you are probably wondering why I have a teeth whitener as a purse essential. But as your wine- and coffee-addicted friend, I must tell you, my teeth turn a gnarly color if they aren’t maintained.  So, if you are like me with coffee and wine and perhaps headed to a special event, office meeting, or a first date and notice your teeth are the same yellow color as Big Bird, trust me- you will want a teeth whitener on hand. For the best on-the-go, teeth whitening results, try Glo Everyday GLO™ Teeth Whitening Maintenance.

GLO Teeth Whitening Maintenance Pen: $25.00

Lip Color Choices: For a quick change in my makeup, I like having a range of lipsticks and glosses in my purse. Why? Because first, one can NEVER have too many lipsticks.  It’s nearly impossible. Second, you can change the entire vibe of your makeup by simply switching the color from dull to “dang she looks gooooood” (try a red lipstick and neutral eyes for that reaction). As a busy woman, I may not have time to change all of my makeup, but I can swap out a lip color and use the bright lipstick shade in my purse as a cream blush.

My lipstick and gloss essentials for my purse are:

Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream in Sancere

Jouer Lipgloss in Glace

Makeup Forever Lipstick in Nude Beige

Mally Beauty Gloss in Life is Fuchsia

Dental Floss: Nobody wants to be the person smiling at everyone, thinking they look awesome, but not knowing they actually have a Texas-sized piece of lettuce wedged in the corner of their front teeth. Yeah, I wish I could say that has never happened to me. So, since I am not going to make that mistake again, keeping these adorable Dentek Dental Floss-Picks and Case in my purse is an essential. In fact, this is probably my favorite of all 6 Purse Worthy Beauty Basics.

Dentek Floss Picks + Case: around $3.00

Make sure you have your beauty basics for your purse at all time.

Sanitary Wipes: Because it’s an absolute essential to know I can destroy the germs that were just welcomed onto my hands after touching nasty gym equipment, doors, or whatever else is super-germified.  I am killing those germs with YouSmell hand wipes. Are you with me?

YouSmell Lemon Wrapped Hand Wipes: $5.00

LaVanila Deoderant is one of the best beauty basics that shoul be kept in your purse at all times.

Deodorant: I’m not sure that I even need to go into this one. But since I can, I might as well. Listen up friends, there are moments when you lift up your arms and gracefully sneak a wiff of your pits and think to yourself, “ehhh…it’s a little bad, but not bad enough.” As your friend, I am telling you, it’s bad enough. If you think it’s kind of bad, it’s super bad to everyone else. Carry deodorant guys, nuf said. Check out my current deodorant fav from LAVANILA. Turns out it’s my best friend, Kourtney Kardashian’s fav, too.

LAVANILA Healthy Deodorant: $14.00

  • I should really find a good deodorant to stick in my purse…it’s hit the “really hot and dry” stage here in Montana.

  • Rhonda G.

Great tips. Love Mally products. I think you need to make a video tutorial of some kind (because I’m sure you’re not busy). Us Oregonians miss your face. 🙂

    • I know…I need to do a tutorial soon! Thanks for reading Rhonda!

  • Aleya Bamdad

I’ve been using Toms but would like to try out the Vanilla deoderant

  • That’s a lot of essentials! I don’t take much with me, usually. But what I always need to have with me is lip balm, hand cream and mattifying powder. And if I can, a cute lippie, a back-up eye pencil and some dental care things.

    • girl…I am a legit beauty product hoarder. That is a small glimpse into what I really have going on in my purse! haha!

  • Love it – I want to try that whitener and the deodorant AND of course the sanitizer wipes. And, I feel your pain – I have an almost 3 year old who loves to randomly throw tantrums by SITTING DOWN on the floor of the store and pouting big-time. Oh, and sometimes, that is accompanied by loud wailing and looks from other people. Fun, fun, I tell you.

  • Great tips! I carry a ton of lip products with me too. I need to start carrying those cute little flossers!
