1920’s Inspired Collaboration Photoshoot

A few months ago I had the great opportunity to put together this 1920’s inspired bridal shoot with photographer Maria Lamb of Anthem Photography. We got to collaborate on this shoot along with some of Portland, OR most talented women there is (in my humble but very opinionated….opinion). There is something lovely that happens when great minds collaborate on a project, and I am really proud of how this all turned out!

Yesterday this shoot was featured on the wonderful Canadian blog, www.birdsandhoney.com and we (as in all of us) are thrilled! Thank you to all the women who helped put this together…and of course, please go check out these amazing talented ladies and buisnesses that I just so happen to adore.

When I think of the 20’s, I envision it to be one never-ending, glamorous party with girls dancing in their designer frocks….*swoon*. (I will get out of my daydream now, I know it was not all glamour!) So I wanted her makeup to be soft and subtle…almost innocent looking, but very eye-catching at the same time.

In the 1920’s, brows and lips are the most iconic makeup trends…think cupid bow lips and very arched brows. So I made sure to re-structure her brows and lips by blocking out her natural brow and lip-line and making a new one to match that era. I also wanted her skin to be as natural as possible using the Jouer Cosmetics Luminizing Moisture Tint and also the cheek tint in bare. For her eyes, I focused the most darkness and contouring towards the inner corner of her eyes using a matte dark brown shadow and highlighted the center of her eyelids with a shimmery opal shade. I finished her eyes by using a charcoal eye-liner on her water line and topping her lashes with mascara.
