Sponsored: It might be the end of July, but swimsuit season lasts well into September here in Austin, Texas. So, I am taking the 40 day Balance Bar Shape Up Challenge so that my body gets healthy and doesn’t look like I have had two kids… Is that even possible? Honestly, this challenge fits right in with what I have been challenging myself with lately anyways, so I think it was meant to be.
Here is the situation– I like food. I like food a lot. I especially like Mexican food, which doesn’t do anything good for you when it comes to wearing a bikini. I already love to work out 5 days a week. But to get that tummy flat? It’s really about what goes into it (dang you chips and salsa).
So, I am starting out this Balance Bar shape up challenge by changing the way I eat: healthy eating choices with smaller portions alongside with eating more frequently throughout the day.
As a wife, mom of two, makeup artist, and blogger, I am pressed for time most of the time. So it is essential for me to be able to have a healthy snack in my purse at all times so that I don’t grab for the nearest anything and have an unhealthy binge party, ruining everything I have been working so hard to accomplish. You know what I mean?
To start out this #BalanceShapeUp Program, I headed to Walmart and picked up a few boxes of Balance Bars in two ah-mazing flavors: cookie dough, and dark chocolate peanut (yummm). Balance Bars are quick and healthy, hunger-satisfying bars that contain 15 grams of protein, 23 vitamins and minerals, a good source of anti-oxidants, and are entirely guilt-free. They are 40% calories from carbs, 30% calories from protein, and 30% calories from dietary fat. Because of that, it helps me to keep track of what I am putting into my body so that I can make right choices for my other daily meals.
The Balance Bar shape up challenge is a 40 day challenge that encourages you to not only eat healthy, but will give you challenging 30-minute workouts, healthy eating tips and multiple social media giveaways. Holly Del Rosso, an NASM certified personal trainer, created the exercise program. It includes 18 different 30-minute workouts that focus on the abs, legs and back.
(Enjoying a moment to myself while downing some guilt-free-goodness.)
