Flat Lace-Up Shoes for Spring 2016

Spring 2016 is here, and so are flat lace-up shoes. I am not going to lie; I am completely copying this trend from my other casual-chic dressing friends and owning it as an original idea. Let’s be honest, sometimes it feels good to catch shoe and style trends at the beginning and not at the very end (praying this shoe trend stays around for a bit). It just makes those of us who are chasing kids all-day-every-day, feel like we have life on lock even though I for sure know I do not. Just a few months back I was with a few of my fashionista friends on a shopping date, one is a talented musician, and the other is a gifted clothing stylist. Both are mad-cool girls and have a style that makes you feel like you are homeschooled and stuck living a little house on the prairie nightmare. Anyways, they both bought these flat lace up shoes from Steven Madden at Nordstrom because, well, they are cool. Yes, I had a bit of shoe envy, but I got booties instead and really, I didn’t want to be the flat lace-up shoes, three-amigo team. Eventually, I got over myself and came to the conclusion that if copying is the highest form of flattery..then, I am an excellent friend (wink-wink).

Flat Lace-Up Shoes…Worth Jacking the Trend

flat lace up shoes for spring 2016 My spring style is this: simple, comfortable, and accessorized with small details that make a big impact. I like to wear comfortable t-shirts that hide my baby pooch from having three kids (that essentially atrophied my stomach muscles) and stretchy skinny pants with not-natural rips and tears or basic black pants. Side note, I looove my stretchy pants because they can handle, hide, and not judge my post-baby body and sometimes bloated tummy from eating too many chips and salsa. That right there makes a legit best friend. Even though it’s spring, I will still opt for more neutral colors that can be brought to life with jewelry, amazing bags, and of course, the right shoes. The right flat shoes. Honestly, it’s hard for me to do heels even though I should because I am only 5’1. But regardless of my height deficiency, I am simply just not comfortable wearing them for an extended amount of time, and I don’t have a chance to switch my clothing and shoe choices up throughout the day. I am trying to keep my kids dressed and their shoes on…you know? So I love flats. Like, I REALLY love flats. flat lace up shoes are the shoe trend for spring 2016 I have all types of flats, but these, these Steve Madden flat lace-up shoes from Nordstrom are for sure my favorite. And, I knew they would be which is the very reason I jacked my friends style with zero shame. They are ridiculously comfortable, the lace up detail makes them unique and special, and they are a great price at $79.95. Plus, I got them in black because I love black and black goes with literally everything. (Yay and cheers to black.)   casual spring 2016 style and black lace up shoes Some of you might be pondering the idea of how flat lace-up shoes works. Well, it’s simple. You just put on your shoe and wrap the string/lace around, and tie it in the back or front. My preference is the back, for no good reason. This shoe is not complicated and no, it doesn’t take extra time to put on, no it’s not a hassle, yes, everyone will compliment you on them and yes, everyone will jack your style. Don’t be mad. Just accept that these things happen in life. clothing style for spring 2016 with black lace up shoes In the end, my flat lace up shoes from Nordstrom will get plenty of use, and they will incorporate well with loads of my spring outfits.
