One of my newest obsessions is this Gluten Free, Dairy Free, banana and berry Acai Bowl Recipe with a touch of granola topped with a drizzle of honey. My mouth is currently watering.  I had my first taste of this smoothie fruit bowl a few years ago on my trip to Honolulu and my mind was blown. And, while I can’t go back to Hawaii every time I have a craving, I can make my own Acai bowl at home just the way I like it.

Dairy free and gluten free acai bowl recipe that's good for your body and perfect for breakfast or as a healthy snack with beauty and lifestyle blogger, Kendra Stanton.

What is an Acai Bowl Made of?

First things first, If you’ve never tried an Acai bowl, now is your chance, babe. I’m making it easy with all of the steps and exactly what you need.  With that said, the main thing is that these smoothie bowls have Acai berries involved, thus the name. You can get the Acai powder option or pre-made packets (which I will talk more about below).

If you want to know what exactly is in an Acai bowl, let me break it down. Acai is a super-food ingredient that is an amazing source for fiber and anti-oxidant magic. It’s also anti-inflammatory and contains Omega Fatty Acids. In other words, you want this ingredient in your life.

A classic bowl typically is an Acai Smoothie (in a bowl) topped with a ton of different fruits and berries along with some nuts, granola, and other healthy add on’s. Like, you could add in protein powder if you wanted or just a scoop of almond butter.

For the most part, this is a really healthy snack or breakfast option. But, if you are wondering how healthy Acai bowls are and if they will help you lose weight, like with anything, the calories can add up fast. So keep that in mind as you think of other thing’s you might want to include in your own recipe. With all good things, moderation and small portions are fantastic.

Acai berry bowl is a superfood breakfast that's healthy and full of berries, gluten-free granola and more. Get this easy recipe with beauty and lifestyle blogger, Kendra Stanton.

Banana and Berry Acai Bowl Smoothie Ingredients

For my Acai bowl recipe though, we are keeping it simple with bananas, strawberries, gluten-free granola, honey, and of course the smoothie portion that’s packed full of the Acai berries, which my kids love. Speaking of my babes, we don’t do dairy…so, this Acai bowl is dairy-free and I stay away from, gluten-free! Check out what’s in my bowl so you can whip one up for yourself and become as ridiculously obsessed as I am.

Do you have a blender? If not, girl you will need one. I use my ninja and that works well to blend together all of my frozen ingredients to made the smoothie portion of my Acai bowl.

    1. 1/2 cup frozen Blackberries
    2. 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
    3. 1/2 frozen banana
    4. 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
    5. 4 tablespoons of Acai Powder or one frozen packet of Acai (which honestly, taste rather disgusting)
    6. 1 cup unsweetened organic almond milk. Add more or less to get your right consistency.
    7. Almond butter (optional)
    8. 1 tablespoon of honey or agave
