I had the opportunity to hang out with my sweet, hip, and incredibly talented hair stylist (and friend), Erin Wesolowski from Dosha Salon and Spa. Erin is an award winning hair stylist, with an edge for creativity and a passion to make people feel their best. She knows all the secrets when it comes to taking care of your hair, so I decided to get the inside scoop. I asked what her 5 favorite hair care products are, what they are for, and how you apply them. Read below to find out what she has to say about her faves!
1. Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum – “This product is helpful when it comes to smoothing out even the most unruly of hair. It adds incredible shine and cuts down the time it takes to blow dry hair by displacing water in the hair shaft.“
How to apply: “Just use one pump and work it through the ends of your
hair before blow drying.”
2. T.I.G.I Headrush – “If you want to add a little shine to your hair
without weighing it down, this is the product for you. This spray on
shine is very light, so it can be used on most hair types. It
eliminates static and gives a great finish to stylin.”
How to apply: “Be sure to keep it at least 12 inches away from your hair while spraying. You can even use the blow dryer to evenly distribute it throughout your hair while applying it.”
3. Aveda Volumizing Tonic – “I love this product because it gives your
hair a boost of volume without weighing it down or getting sticky.”
How to apply: “Spray 5-10 times, concentrating it at your roots. To
style, blow dry the hair using a medium size round brush to lift hair
away from the roots in order to create volume and smooth the ends of
the hair.”
4. Aveda Daily Hair Repair– “It is always a challenge when people have
processed hair to keep it healthy and in good condition. That is why
this product is among my 5 favorites. It is a lightweight leave in
conditioner that puts protein into the hair to strengthen, prevent
breakage and protect from heat damage. I even love this for curly
hair (which always needs more moisture), plus it works well with any
curling product.
How to apply: “Use nickel size amount (use less for fine
hair and up to a quarter size for long, thick hair) to towel dried
hair, then blow dry and style as you like. If your hair is curly you
can diffuse it, but it even works well if you let it dry naturally.”
5. Schwarzkopf BC Repair Rescue Sealed Ends – “It’s one thing to
prevent hair breakage, and another to stop split ends. This product
helps to do both and I especially recommend this product to women who
are growing out their hair. Many people feel like their hair is taking
forever to grow and it is because their unhealthy ends are breaking
off!”
How to apply: “Using a pea size of this over your ends before blow-drying along with regular light trims (never longer than 12 weeks) will help your
hair grow faster.”
Lastly I asked Erin what her one piece of advice would be for everyone and this is what she said: “The best advice I can give to everyone is to always use a heat protectant product before styling. Many of us color our hair and use a lot of heat to style it, so prevent damage to your hair as much as possible so that your hair remains shiny and healthy. Remember, damaged, dry hair is never in style!
