One of my favorite basic makeup tips is learning how to color correct your skin with makeup. I have seen every kind of complexion that needed skin tone correcting with makeup as a makeup artist. I’ve color corrected extremely dark circles, red blemishes, acne scarring, rosacea, brown pigmentation, sollow skin and more. It’s rare to have a perfectly even skin tone which is why so many brands have makeup that helps to neutralize and balance uneven skin tones. I am going to walk you through what makeup shades help to hide different skin-tone issues and what cosmetic products I would recommend as well.

PINK COLOR CORRECTOR MAKEUP TIPS

How To Cancel Our Dark Under Eyes with Pink Color Corrector:

I’ve already written an entire article on how to conceal dark under eye circles, but here are some quick color correcting tips and which shades you should use. If you have pale skin and dark undereyes, you want to use a color correcting concealer that has a tint of pink to it like the Urban Decay Naked Skin Correcting Fluid. You apply it first with your concealer brush and then press it in with your beautyblender. Then, you can go over that corrector with your regular concealer.

How to Brighten Dull Basic Makeup Tips for Brightening Dull Pale Skin with a Pink Makeup Color Corrector:

If you have an overall dull appearance to your pale skin and you want to brighten it up, use a pink color corrector with a formula that resembles tinted foundation or lotion; this should not a be very thick formula at all. You want to use your foundation brush and apply it to your entire face before applying your foundation and then use your Beautyblender to blend it all together.

YELLOW COLOR CORRECTOR MAKEUP TIPS

How to Soften Mild Redness with a Yellow Makeup Color Corrector:

If you have a general redness to your skin like cheeks that are always flushed with color, you can use a yellow color corrector that’s in the form of a tinted foundation or lotion. Apply the color corrector with your foundation and then blend it in with a Beautyblender.

How to  Softening Mild Rendess from Acne or Acne Scarring with a Yellow Makeup Color Corrector:

If you have an angry zit or a blemish that left a bit of scarring, you can use a yellow makeup color corrector that resembles a concealer like the Urban Decay Color Correcting Makeup in Yellow. Apply the makeup directly to wherever you need to cancel out redness with a concealer brush and then press in the product with a Beautyblender. Always set with powder and then add your regular concealer or foundation over that.

How to Cancel Out Intense Redness from Rosacea, Broken Capillaries, Acne with a Green Makeup Color Corrector:

Whether you have Intense redness from rosacea, broken capillaries, or inflamed acne, you can cancel out the discoloration and diffuse the red by using a green makeup color corrector. Start by using a green-tinted foundation or lotion like this one from Algenist first and apply it all over your skin, then blend it with a Beautyblender. Then, use a green-tinted concealer type formulation like this COVER FX Green Color Stick and apply it directly with a concealer brush on the areas that are more prominent like a red zit or a broken red capillary. Then, take your Beautyblender and press it into the skin and soften any harsh lines. Last, add a bit of powder and then go over it with your regular foundation.

How to Cancel Out Dark Under Eye Circles with Purple Makeup Color Corrector for Medium Skin

If you have medium colored skin, you can cancel out your dark under eyes using a purple makeup color corrector that resembles concealer like the COVER FX Color Corrector in Purple. Just apply a tiny amount (like a rice size) with a concealer brush and then press it into the skin with your Beautyblender. You can add your regular concealer over the top to blend it in.

How To Brighten Medium Skin Tones with a Purple Color Corrector:

Does your skin lack vibrancy? Just add it to your face with a foundation brush and blend it in with your Beautyblender. Add a touch of powder and then apply your regular foundation over.

How to Cancel Med-Dark Under Eyes using Peach Makeup Color Corrector for Pale and Medium Skin Tones:

It’s hard to cancel out shades of blue under your eyes, but it can be done with color correctors. If you have pale or medium skin and also have blue under eyes and want to cancel it out, you can! Use a peach makeup color corrector that looks like a concealer. Then, go over it with your regular concealer.

How to Cancel Out Brown Pigmentation using Peach Color Correctors for Pale and Medium Skin Tones:

I highly recommend these tips for getting rid of brown pigmentation while you are trying to use makeup to conceal and correct your skin discoloration. With that said, you can also use a peach makeup color corrector to combat their annoying appearance. First, apply a peach-tinted foundation or lotion to your entire face using a foundation brush and then blend it in with a Beautyblender. Then, apply your foundation. Last, go over any specific spots that are more prominently brown and use a peach color corrector that looks like a concealer. Tap it on that exact spot with a concealer brush and then use your Beautyblender to press the color into the skin and soften any harsh lines. Last, add your powder.

ORANGE COLOR CORRECTOR MAKEUP TIPS

How to Cancel Out Very Dark Under Eye Circles with an Orange Makeup Color Corrector for Medium Skin:

You can use an Orange makeup color corrector that looks like a concealer under your eyes to cancel out dark under eyes like the Amazing Cosmetics AmazingConcealer Corrector. Just apply the product with a concealer brush and then blend it in with your Beautyblender. Next, you can use your regular concealer over your corrector and set it with a tiny bit of powder.

How to Cancel Brown Pigmentation using Orange Color Correctors for Tan to Dark Skin Tones:

To conceal and cancel out the color of unwanted brown pigmentation on tan to dark skin tones, you want to find a color corrector that has an orange tint to it in a tinted moisturizer formulation. You can apply that to bare skin and then apply your foundation over that. Then, if you have any targeted areas on your face that have more distinct brown pigmentation, you can use your concealer brush and go over that spot with an orange-tinted concealer corrector. Add a touch of powder over those spots and then conceal with your regular concealer.

RED COLOR CORRECTOR MAKEUP TIPS

How to Cancel Dark Under Eye Circles for Dark to Deep-Dark Skin Tones use Red Color Correctors:

If you have a dark to deep-dark skin tone, you can use a color correcting concealer that has a base of red to cancel out dark undereye circles like the Color FX Corrector stick in red. The red counteracts the shade of blue under the eyes and will help to cancel out the unwanted discoloration. First, apply your red color corrector under your eye (start with a rice size amount) with a concealer brush and blend it in really well. You can add a tiny bit of powder just to set that area before layering anything else. Next, apply your regular concealer and blend it with your Beautyblender.
