How to Conceal Your Skin Problems

This is a sponsored conversation… As a makeup artist, I come across skin conditions all the time that need to be concealed. Today I get to share with you a post about how to conceal one of your most annoying skin problems – cold sores, and stay confident in your own skin. You wouldn’t believe how many models struggle with cold sores, but even more personally, I have several family members that do too and I can see how it affects their confidence. In addition to using Abreva® at the first sign of their cold sore to heal it faster, there are a few makeup tricks they can use to conceal it and get their confidence back up. Speaking of confidence, I use to have really bad acne, so I know how skin conditions can really affect how you feel about yourself. But, I also know how the power of makeup can help lessen the appearance of skin blemishes and get your mind in a more confident state. While these makeup tips and tricks work really well for hiding cold sores, these same concealing steps are what I use to hide other blemishes like acne. How to conceal skin blemishes Before you Hide Your Cold Sore: When you see a cold sore start to develop, you need to actually put the makeup away initially and grab your Abreva® ASAP. Using Abreva® helps to speed up your cold sore recovery. Once your cold sore is in the healing stage, use these concealer tips and tricks. What You Need: Abreva®, disposable makeup sponge, yellow color corrector, full coverage creamy concealer.Concealing your skin blemishes How to Conceal your Cold Sore:

  1. To avoid makeup contamination, make sure you scrape or squeeze your concealing products onto a paper towel. You also want to only use disposable makeup applicators like a cosmetic sponge and q-tip. Avoid using your usual makeup brushes at all cost; you don’t want to have to toss them out.
  2. After you have applied your Abreva® and your skin is not weeping at all, you can start using concealer. Apply a yellow based color corrector to the affected area with a cosmetic sponge. Avoid wiping it on, try pressing it on so you don’t irritate the area.
  3. Next, use a full coverage concealer that is creamy and easy to move. Using something that is dry or powdery will only make your cold sore look worse. Use a disposable cosmetic sponge to press on your concealer to the affected area and blend out the edges with your regular foundation.
