I had so much fun last night at the launch of MAC’s Surf Baby collection here in Portland at the Bridgeport location! I found myself wishing I could transport the entire store with all of it’s glorious shelves of makeup, into my own home. Wouldn’t that be lovely?
I felt very V.I.P walking in as they checked to see if we were on “the list” before they let us into M.A.C heaven. Speaking of heaven, we even had guys that could have been related to Taylor Lautner (wolf off of Twilight), serving us appetizers and yummy drinks! My friend Kathryn (she is loving me right now) was grateful for that and I was just happy to feel served and spoiled. Besides, I have an amazing and good looking husband at home. Lucky me.
Now that you have an idea of the fun I had at the launch party…it is time to SHOW OFF MY SHOPS! I did walk away purchasing a few items that just couldn’t be left alone in the store by themselves. They needed to be adopted into my makeup bag of course. Isn’t that nice of me?
I will put a * next to the items that I actually came home with!
MAC Surf Baby Shadows From Left to right: Shadow are $15.50 us
-Swell Baby: This is a mid tone grey shadow that reminds me of the rainy, depressing weather in Oregon. I also have lots of colors similar to this one, so I skipped it. (Limited
Edition)
*-Saffron Eye Shadow: You know when the sun sets on the ocean and it makes this beautiful burnt orange/pink/red shade? That is what this looks like to a “T.” I love this color! (Limited Edition)
*-Surf USA Eye Shadow: If I wanted to swim in an ocean (which I don’t because I am afraid of sharks) I would want it to look like this color. A beautiful green/blue shade that will make any eye color pop. (Limited Edition)
*-Sun Blonde Eye shadow: A beautiful golden, yellow color. Very pigmented and easy to build upon. (Limited Edition)
-Short Shorts- I nice “frosty white champaign” shade that is not very original. I have lots of colors like this one as well, so I skipped it too.
Bronzing powder $24.00 and Studio Careblend $28.00
These were each really beautiful and easy to work with. Left to right-
-Solar Riche Bronzing Powder: “Mid-tone deep orange brown.”
-*Refined Golden Bronzing Powder: “Finely spun golden with soft pearl finish.”
-Gold Go Lightly Studio Careblend: “Mid-tone golden tan brown.”
– Lush Studio Careblend: “Mid-tone rosy pink brown.”
Skinsheen Bronzer Stick $29.50
Totally digging these! I loved how they applied, and how it was extremely easy to work with and blend. Check it out.
Left to right:
-Gilty Bronze: “Coppery bronze with gold shimmer.”
-Tan: “Soft suntan bronze.”
-*Billionaire Bronze: “Warm golden tan.”
This is what Kathryn bought in addition to the three shadow I got as well. Check out her digs.
Eye Liner $14.50-This went on really smooth, I like Mac liners anyways. I just happen to really love these colors.
-Gilded White: A beautiful “shimmering off white,” love this one!
-Blue Noon: I think a lot of people will be rocking teal liner this summer.
Crushed Metallic Pigment Stacks $$32.00-36.00 I believe (killer price)
I thought these were interesting, some of the pigments are clumped together in the jar. But it really did give intense color! I am kind of kicking myself for not buying these. At least Katherine got one, I might have to play with hers.
These were actually a really killer size!
-Surf the Ocean: Frosty platinum, light yellow green, gold bronze, dirty graphite with silver pearl (Limited Edition and Katherine got this one)
-Summer Stash: Light pink champagne, light white pearl, light violet with silver pearl, brown bronze with gold pearl (Limited Edition)
-Overall I think it’s really easy to see that these are highly pigmented and very fun stacks!
Lipstick and Lipglass: $14.50
Unfortunitaly I only have swatches of the lipsticks! I really, really loved the Naturally Eccentric, but they were out of them by the time I checked out. Sad.
Left to right on these swatches.
-Hibiscus: Bright orange coral (Cremesheen) (Limited Edition)
-Naturally Eccentric: Creamy white nude (Lustre) (Limited Edition and my fave)
-Mocha – Peachy yellow-brown (Satin) (Permanent)
-Bust Out! – Dirty mid-tone violet (Lustre) (Limited Edition)
I really thought this was pretty, but I can’t say much else about it since I didn’t get around to trying it out. There for I don’t not have a swatch for you on this one, let us know if you tried it out. I am sorry!
So after a fun night, I think you should enjoy some of the fun as well! Surf Baby launches on the 27th, so find a M.A.C counter near you and book an appointment to check out which colors would best suite you!
I will be seeing the lovely Kathryn at Washington Square in Oregon! Check her out!
Love this and the skin care routine info–so exceedingly helpful
Looking forward to seeing how you actually wear those colors and not come out looking like an 80’s prom queen. I’ll be tuning in tomorrow.
Now you just have to go try it!!
I really love the eyeshadows! I was so excited you came over to show me 🙂
What are next door neighbors for anyways right?
