Makeup Breakdown: Beyonce Knowles 2011 VMA’s

Last night’s VMA’s were packed with surprises to say the least with Lady Gaga dressed as her male alter ego, Jo Calerone, and Beyonce dropping the news of her pregnancy! Between the two, Beyonce wins, and we all know the combo of Jay-Z with Beyonce is going to make the most ridiculously talented music bent baby of all time…. watch out world.

So congrats to Beyonce, but I have to make an observation that it seems celebs make being pregnant look so effortless. As I reflect on my pregnancy, there was no way you could pay me to wear 6 inch heels anywhere (although my husband would have loved it as I am only 5’1). I wouldn’t complain if I was asked to wear her Ren Lanvin Sheath dress, however, I couldn’t guarantee it would look that pretty at the end of the night as I had all day sickness instead of morning sickness! Either way, she rocked that baby bump well, and her makeup was flawless. Let’s break down how you can get this simple yet classy makeup to be this fabulous on you!

1- Try to not weigh your skin down with a pound of foundation, instead, choose a tinted moisturizer that blends easily into the skin allowing your natural skin to still be apparent. If you have blemishes, choose a concealer to spot cover. Check out Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.

2-As I was searching for items that would be easy,  not leaving you to rush around from place to place gathering a million items to get a look, I found the perfect palette. Check out the Happily Ever After palette from Stila, I love Stila Pallettes, they are convenient and easy to pack and travel with. Below I will walk you threw how to get this look using these colors.

3. Eyes:  Use the matte Ivory under the  brow bone to highlight the eyebrow. Next take the Shimmery Nude Pink and pack on the lower eyelid and into the tear ducts. Now place the Matte Fawn into the contour of the eye creating a slight bronzed look. Last use the waterproof liner in lionfish (a bronze color) close to the upper and lower lash line and finish with black mascara to give your lashes definition and a pop.

Cheeks: Give your cheeks a sot contour by using the soft tan bronzing powder right under the cheek bone and then apply the soft pink blush on the apples of the cheeks. To add a bit of highlight, add the shimmering nude pink shadow right above the cheek bones. It’s great to make something multi-functional right?

Lips: Complete your look by using the warm nude lip color in the palette, this will give your lips a nice kissable look.

** Like most of us, our noses are less than perfect, looking at Beyonce’s nose you can see that it is clearly contoured. To make your nose look more centered, use the bronzing power down the sides and adding the matte ivory down the center.
