Loreal Double Extend Mascara seemed like an interesting one to try due to the fact that it is a lash primer and mascara in one. I love that! Step 1 is the lash primer. It has a pro keratin complex in it which helps maintain the integrity of your lashes and gives a boost of length as well. Step 2 is the mascara which claims to give your lashes an extra 80% in length all while remaining clump free.
Sounds nice to me, lets see if I get those results.
The Brush
Step1 Brush
Both of these wands have a long skinny brush with lots packed bristles. They did a good job of allowing me to apply the serum and mascara.
Lash Photos
Gave me some great length right away, felt almost like I was putting on a white mascara. Once it dried, I did feel like my lashes felt a little stiff.
First layer really did a lot for me in the way of pumping up the volume of my lashes and giving me great length. Do you think they are 80% longer? I am still debating.
I don’t see too much of a significant difference between layers 1 and 2. I think I like just having one layer of this mascara though with this, it seems sufficient. My second layer is looking a bit like spider legs.
Performance
I really ended up liking this mascara! It did a great job of holding up throughout the day. I didn’t have to re-apply and it stayed put with no flaking etc. I think the color could have been a bit richer, but if you like a softer shade of black, this might be great for you!
Cost and Value
The price on this product does range depending on where you purchase it, but in general, it is around $10.99. Almost the cost of MAC’s mascara. Except you can’t coupon at MAC like you can for these. I am often finding $2.00 off coupons in the paper or in magazines.
Overall, I really do like my lashes, they are soft and full looking.
