Review: My Brawl With The Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Mascara

Today I had a fight. Not just any fight people, it was a full on brawl with a tube of mascara. Who has a fight with a mascara? Welcome to my life. Anyways- my first try with the Too Faced Better Than False Lashes was a sticky disaster, the second try was even worse!! But to find out what the third try was like, you will just have to read along.

What It Is: The Too Faced Better Than Mascara is suppose to give you a “false lash, lashes extension kind of look. It has Nylon fibers that melt into the activating mascara to stretch and hold their shape, achieving the most outrageous, flirtiest lashes possible in 3 simple steps.”

Price: $35.00 (that’s not that bad)

The Mascara

There is nothing too special about the appearance of the mascara tubes. Moving on.

Step One and Three Activating Mascara & Top Base

I like the brush on this, it has packed bristles which will be great for grabbing my lashes.

Step 2 Nylon Lash Fibers

There is no getting around the fact that this is super weird looking. I have never seen anything like this in the world of eyelash enhancing. This should be interesting.

Before Mascara

As you can see, I naturally have no lashes. They are blonde, short, fine, and non existent. Anybody else have my lashes? If you don’t, please don’t tell me…I will just be jealous!

Round ONE With The Too Face Better Than False Lashes Mascara

Does anyone see the disaster that is happening on my eyelashes? Here is the story, I put on the first coat, then I put on the fiber stuff, then I put on the 3rd coat and my eyelashes become like sticky rubber that won’t even separate with a flipping eyelash comb. So, I am kind of freaking out and begin to explain to my tube of mascara in my monotone but serious voice that we need to get along and that I will go ahead and take full responsibility for our debacle and try again. So I wash it off.

Round TWO With The Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Mascara

First Coat Front

First Coat Side

First Coat Up

After I curl my lashes, the first coat goes on like breeze. There really isn’t much “umph” but I guess that is what step number 2 is for.

Second Coat Front

Second Coat Side

Second Coat Up

I don’t know if you can see the white fuzzy that are on my lashes. But Basically this stuff looks like white fibers that are layered over the first layer of mascara. My first try I thought that perhaps I didn’t put on enough of this fiber stuff. But this time, I think I put on WAY to much because I got soo many fibers in my eyes that it felt like I was getting scratched every time I blinked. That’s a fun feeling I know. But I toughed it out and decided to go ahead with step three and not wash it off in order to see the finished product.

Third Coat Front

Third Coat Side

Third Coat Up

As you can see with the first picture of the 3rd coat I am trying to keep my eyes open and also trying to not tear up and look horrible in the camera. At this point I never want to use this stuff again. I have so much of the fiber in my eyes that it would be ridiculous for me to ever recommend it even if my lashes do look fabulous.

Round THREE With The Too Faced Better Than Mascara

Okay, so round three was really, really good because I figured out what I was doing wrong. As a beauty blogger, and beauty product tester, it is part of my job to take pictures so that I can show off to you the steps. Well, that means, taking a million pictures so I can get the right picture. With that said, I had let the coats of mascara dry to much and so it was really hard getting the second and third step to go on and do what it is suppose to do.

So instead of taking 10 minutes between each layer, I did all three steps in about 30-45 seconds which gave me amazing looking lashes with no fiber fall out or stickiness. I think the moral of the story is this; with any friendship it takes time to develop and understand each other…sometimes you are just misunderstood. All good thing’s are worth fighting for…right?

OVERALL THOUGHTS AND EXPERIENCE

CLEARLY my experience was pretty odd. It’s a fun product, new, and something I have never seen before so I was happy when it was sent to me. As you can read above, I ended up realizing I was using the product wrong and did end up really liking it. With that said, I do think that if you wear contacts or have sensitive eyes, it could potentially be a disaster so you should be careful.

Rating: I think I really like you (4 points)

Life BEYOND The Blog

Here is a little glimpse into my life over the past few weeks.

Me and the fam (husband and daughter Z) went to Disneyland, the happiest place on earth. My daughter is only 2 and I am prego, so our ride options were limited. I spent my day on Dumbo, Peter Pan, Ariel, and the Carousel. I am a roller coaster freak, so I was kind of sad and seriously Peter Pan was a huge disappointment for me. It’s just not the same as was when I was 9. Oh-well, Z was happy.

BABY AND THE BUMP

Here I am at 16 weeks prego

And here is the mystery child. My mom said she/he looks like me. That’s weird.

NEW THINGS!

Check out these pretty sparkles!!?? While I was in LA I did makeup for a wedding, they spoiled me with a fun Pedicure!

Check out my sparkle toes! I am seriously in love, but these bad boys had a $75.00 price tag (ouch) that did not include any type of massage to my feet. Clearly I did not grow up in Beverly Hills.

I also bought my first pair of TOMS! They are so comfortable, and I am glad I caved even though I swore I would never own a pair simply because they are odd looking. But I do feel good that they are a shoe that also has an amazing cause behind them. Love that!

This is my “until next time” face! Have a rad day!
