I know I have mentioned these duo shadows from NYC before, but I thought I would share in detail. I was really intrigued by them because the bright, neon colors (that are so trendy right now) look near identical to the Givenchy palette at Sephora I have been wanting. However, the Givenchy does has a bit more shimmer to it, where as the NYC shades are entirely matte.
But what sealed the deal for me, and the reason why I could purchase this “guilt free,” was because they are only $2.50 a piece! So I purchased a few to see if I liked the color, texture and pigment, before buying all of them. Obviously I ended up buying them all, which is why I am doing this review!

MY OVERALL THOUGHTS:
You definitely need a shadow primer when using these colors to get a rich pigment. I didn’t use one while swatching these, so I really had to put on a couple layers to build it the intensity. That shouldn’t be a deal breaker though since I can think of many high end brands where you have to do the same thing.
The texture of this is a bit powdery, definitely not smooth and silky. However, even the matte NARS shadows tend to be on the powdery side. My favorite of the four was the Island Sunset because it gave the most pigment. My least favorite was the Yankee Blues because the dark blue was a bit more challenging to get pigment from.
I think for the price, it far exceeds it’s value, so I am very impressed! If you are on the scout for some bright shadows and don’t want to have to dig deep into your pockets. Check these items out, I don’t think they will disappoint you!
I give this product a 4/5 (only because I didn’t like the Yankee Blues)

I just bought a few of their color corrector concealers for a last minute photo shoot (yellow, green & light) for about $1.80 each and they really worked for our undereye circles, redness and also used to cover a healing cut. I really liked the consistency and staying power for such a small price. Would love to hear your opinion vs. more expensive color correctors.! Thanks! Loving Citizens of Beauty!
you did? how were the color correctors? I have never tried the ones from their line. And- how did you shoot go?
I am going to rock the orange and yellow set tonight on stage! I love how it looks and the primer really does help.
Yay! It looks so pretty on you!
