I’m a short and petite girl with a small frame, so, finding bohemian dresses that don’t overwhelm my body can be a challenge. My favorite spring and summer dress is boho style because it’s easy to pull off and it’s casual, cute, and wearable. I started shopping early though because next week my husband and I are headed to Honolulu again for work and pleasure without the kids and so I had to prepare, ya know? I found this cute little short flowy boho dress that will be perfect for travel and also for walking on beaches. Also, it’s a great price and at last years Nordstrom sale there was a Free People dress just like it but for double the price.
I’m gonna be real with you guys, my friend took this shot and it was so windy that my dress flew up at Magnolia Market in Waco and I flashed some unsuspecting visitors. So, I want you to think about that. Seriously though, the wind was for real. So while I love this short flowy dress from Topshop, keep in mind, that if it’s windy, you will need to hold it down otherwise the world will see your cha-cha.
Some people won’t mind that. (nuff said)
My personal style is more simple. I don’t over-complicate everything and my summer closet is bohemian inspired like this cute embroidered tank. I’m a short and petite person at 5’1, so, sometimes I feel like too much on my body just look like too much. What I appreciate about this short flowy boho dress is that when it’s not flying in the wind like I’m transforming into superwoman, it’s relaxed and fits my body really well. I also like that it’s a little tighter on the chest and then flows out to cover any mom pooch situation (three kids and everything).
SHORT BLACK BOHO DRESSES
Here is the dress I am showing you today along with some similar styles. Although, of them all, I like this one the most and the price at $60 isn’t bad either. Especially if it will be worn again and again.
The back of this dress is epic. I love that it has a cut-out back, but that I can still wear a bra. Ladies, did I mention I have three kids? This mom can’t not go without a bra, mmm-k? Like, if I did, the ta-ta’s would be even sadder than they already are. Droopy sad actually.
I think what sold me on this short flow boho dress was the floral embroidery. I love it so much. I love the blue and red flowers and the crotchet effect on the front; it’s just gorgeous and I feel pretty in it. Anything that makes you feel gorgeous and that you know you will wear again and again is a must-have for me in my closet. I am notorious for wearing the same clothes on rotation. I don’t buy things I don’t love and this spring-summer dress is a stunner.
Another thing, I like dresses that can be worn dressed up or dressed down. I like that I can wear this short flowy boho dress in sandals on the beach and then throw on some heels later my my black vegan jacket (okay-pleather) if I need to dress up a bit. Multi-functional outfits are the best investments in my opinion.
You don’t have to be short and petite to own this dress. But, I am only 5’1, so I want you to be aware that if you are taller than I am, it might be a little short. If you don’t care, then cool. Get the dress!
