Today I am going to show you my Festival Style and how to rock this trend in your 30’s without feeling ridiculous and like, you should probably stop shopping in the Jr. section. No, I am not in my early 20’s anymore, and there is zero chance of me hanging at a festival for day’s on end…let’s be real. But an afternoon without kids wearing my ridiculously comfy Levi’s® 711 Skinny Jeans and a loose fitted top that lets air flow through for days? Bring it.
A few weeks ago my husband and I did just that and went down for SXSW in Austin, TX and pretended we were one of the cool kids. Let me tell you from personal experience; festival clothes needs to be as comfortable as possible. You walk around, listen to bands you don’t care about–but pretend you do because you kind of want to fit in and act like you do this all-the-time–all while sipping free drinks and enjoying the fact that there are ZERO children around. So, with all that craziness, stretch and flow is the way to go for a chic festival style. Let’s talk about it.
p.s- I love my kids.
First off, if you are in your 30’s and you are wondering what exactly festival style is and what this all even means, you are not alone, so let me break it down for you. Festival style became an actual trend when Coachella became the popular event for all celebs, fashion bloggers, and music lovers. So, think seventies-hippie era with Boho flair and everything spring-summer casual. That basically sums up what Festival Style is and what your festival wardrobe should be if you decide to go festivaling.
For my Festival Style look, I chose to wear my Levi’s® Skinny 711 jeans with ripped detail that I picked up from Macy’s. These jeans fit my body like a glove all while letting me move around effortlessly and comfortably (I can’t stand stiff denim). These jeans have a bit of a stretch to them making them easy to live in and never want to take off. If you are on the hunt for some amazing denim, or even if you are not, the Levi’s® 711 Skinny Jeans are your next love affair, and they are only $40.00 which an actual steal.
To complete my effortless festival style, I chose a loose fitted tank with a lace bralette that looks like it’s part of the shirt and peaks through in the back. Then I added a long tasseled necklace for added detail and a brimmed hat to keep the sun off of my face because I am a skincare fanatic. Lastly, I chose some chunky peep-toe heels that will be exchanged for flat shoes once I am over the anomaly of wearing them (I never wear heels unless I go out without kids) and plus they look so good with my Levi’s.
So, if you are in your 30’s and want to try this Festival Style trend with me, here are three things to keep in mind when you shop so that you don’t look like a teenager-30-something. That is just mentally confusing for all people.
- Keep it comfortable.
- Avoid bazaar sayings on your shirt like “turnt”…you are better than this. And “turnt” is not even a word. Keep is classy.
- At all festivals, there are some folks who will be wearing floral crowns. This trend is usually the younger 20 somethings that are also wearing flash tattoos and possibly henna. It’s entirely your call. BUT as you friend, my vote is, if you are going to rock this floral crown thing, please make sure you avoid fake flowers at all cost. Again, keep is classy.
Even if you aren’t going to any festivals, you can still wear the festival style trend. Summer is quickly approaching and with that comes a more relaxed wardrobe where must-have ripped detailed Levi’s® 711 Skinny jeans and flowy tops with bralettes and fringy-boho things are acceptable. Essentially, get in on the comfy trend while you can.

Ha, I love this post. I really like the whole festival style thing that is taking over my Pinterest but I’m 31 and feel like I just shouldn’t go there too much. With that being said, I completely agree that flowy tops with cute bralettes are always a “do”. P.S. Your shoes are adorable.
Thanks Hannah! I appreciate the comment and I am 32…you can still do it girl.
