I don’t know about you, but I am about ready to jump into Spring in whatever form I can! I am so very over winter, and winter colors! I want a color splash! So it gives me great joy that Spring makeup trends are literally everywhere, department stores and drugstores alike! Bring on the trendy Coral lipstick, or lavender shadow that is on everyone’s radar!
Defining The Trends
Trend 1-Statement Lips: Lipstick is all the rage and it’s a good thing because I am a lipstick girl! Lipstick trend colors: coral/orange, bright fuscia, and red!
Get this look: To get this look you want to make sure that your eye shadow choices are not competing with your lips! So this means keeping your eyes fresh and soft! Choose a blush color that is a pink or peach toned to balance your eyes and lips. But please, no 80’s blush style here…keep it natural.
This dialed down: If you don’t feel comfortable with bright lips, not to worry! Choose a lip-gloss in the orange, coral, red, and fuscia color categories! This way you can play up your eyes a bit more!
Ideas:
- Makeup Forevers Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick, Color: Satin/Bright Orange ($19.00)!
- MAC Lipstick Color: Show Orchid ($14.50)
- E.L.F Super Glossy Lip Shine Color: Honey Do ($1.00)

Trend 2- pastels and vintage: Soft shades of lavender and gray eye shadows paired with bold, and refined eyeliner. This look is paired well with look 1 or a neutral lip choice! A must this season! This trend captures femininity and boldness all in one! There is something very elegant and “Jackie-O” about this look, I am in love with it!
Get this look: Once you have applied your foundation and blush. Start by applying a light toned shadow base to the entire eyelid. Apply a nude shimmer shadow under brow arch and into tear duct for highlight. Next “press” a Cool, Lavender shadow on the lower eyelid and blend into your natural eye crease. For a vintage liner look, use your brush and dip into cake or liquid liner, start from inside of the eye and trace along the lash line. To get the extended line, ease up on your pressure with the brush and gently extend passed lash line to where your eyelid has a natural curve. Now go back and do the same thing to get line as thick as you want.
Ideas:
- Smashbox Violet Vixen set ($42.00)

- Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner (around $9.00)
Trend 3- Bold in Nude: If you are not comfortable with all of the shades of color out this season, try sticking with a natural and nude look! This is a “no makeup” makeup look!
Get this look: Your skin should look flawless and fresh with a hint of blush or bronzer. Your eyes should be accented with shades of bronze, browns and pinks. For lips, use a color that is either the same or slightly darker than your natural lip color. Something too light will wash you out. Lastly….mascara!!

- NYX Natural Look Kit (Around 12.99)
I just purchased some lavender eyeshadow but I feel like it makes me look old… Am I putting it in the wrong place? How do you use vibrant colors correctly?
well my dear- I would assume any shade of lavender would look super pretty on you and your dark brown eyes! The best way to use this is to just put it on your eye lid base (not under your eye) for the vintage look. Sometimes if the purple toned shadow has too much pink in it, it can make you look like you have been crying. Is that what you mean? I can imagine a color making you look old. Do you mean washed out?
I love the coral/orange lips!
me too. You should get some! I would love to see that on you!
