Today I get to go to the Young House Love Blogging Conference at the Portland’s Spring Home and Garden show with some of Oregon’s top blogger’s! They asked me to put together a post that shows how fashion, beauty, and home decor trends bounce off of each-other and I was pleasantly surprised.
First I went to the Spring 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion week and checked out trending fashion and makeup styles, next I looked at some of my favorite shopping places for inspiration on the three trends I am focusing on: Trendy Neutral’s, Modern Flash Back, and Bold Prints.
Trending Neutral’s
Dorothy Perkins peep toe heels, $69/Urban Decay Naked2, $50
Neutral’s seem to be on trend every year in fashion and beauty because you can play it up by adding a punch of color, or keep it simple and play it down. Do I even need to mention the absolute craze going on with nude eyeshadow palettes? Okay, well I just did. Even in homes for decor, neutrals are a running theme and according to Five Star Desings, “The biggest color trend this year are neutral colors as shown in this interview with interior designer Jewell Blair on Sonoran Living. Neutral colors are a great way to break away from the traditional beige, taupe, white, and grey without the complications of coordinating with more intense shades of red, blue, etc.”
Bold Prints
Target:Decorative Damask Square Toss Pillow – Gray/ Y…, $26/Decorative Damask Square Toss Pillow – Blue/ White : Target, $26/: Target, $50/Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week : BCBGMAXAZRIA/DIY Beauty Guide: The Ikat-Patterned Manicure : Lucky Guides : Lucky…
I feel like this trend is an obvious one, big prints, bold prints, bright prints are everywhere and on everything! They are on your pillows, on your nails, on your clothes, on your toilet paper? Mmmm…no, they haven’t gone that far….but you get the point.
Vintage Modern Flash Back
Dressers, Nightstands & Bedroom Chests | west elm, $249/ : Target, $50/ Top/MakeUp4All – Makeup Reviews, Beauty Tips, Makeup Magazine/Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week : Spring 2012/: Target
I love the twist of modern with a very vintage feel to it. The floral’s, pastels, and lace really give you the feeling that you are back in the 50’s and 60’s.

I’m glad to see the neutral tones are in. I can’t do the whole 80’s neon and jewel tone pallet. I won’t have to change a thing with my wardrobe theme. Yay!
well..you could do the whole 80’s neon thing if you wanted to!! But, I think your just more of a neatral, vintage, red lips kind of gal.
